Up to 300 Megawatts of Wind Energy in Central Texas

Yellow Cat Wind is a unique opportunity for communities in Navarro County and central Texas. The project will bring a new source of income that passes economic benefits to all parts of the community, while helping maintain ranching and farming industries and ways of life. In fact, the Texas Farm Bureau’s policy position supports wind turbines on Texas farms because of the revenue it brings to families and communities alike.

This portion of central Texas is well-positioned for a Steelhead project. It was selected because it has features that it makes it suitable for a wind project, including suitable wind speeds, high-voltage transmission lines, a large road network, and interested landowners.

The project is currently in the development phase. During this time, Steelhead and its partners are undertaking a wide array of studies and analyses to prepare for construction. This ranges from interconnection studies with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) to site-specific data collection on wind patterns in the area.

Steelhead is actively meeting with landowners, community members, local government, school districts, and organizations to share information about the project. By mixing a wide spectrum of development expertise with Vestas’ leading technology, Steelhead is committed to building clean energy that benefits the local community.
